Candidate Statement Changes in industry structure and the world economy, together with "open access" trends, are presenting major challenges and opportunities to IEEE. My past service as ComSoc President, on the IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB), and on committees across IEEE, has convinced me that we must be innovative and bold in providing meaningful and affordable services that our members around the world want and will buy. It is time to reshape and strengthen our global collaborations with industry, education, and government agencies to ensure IEEE's relevance and financial viability, while staying committed to the vitality of our technical and geographic communities. If elected, I will work with the IEEE Board of Directors, TAB, the Member and Geographic Activities Board, staff and others to assure that IEEE policies and actions provide high value to our members as well as our patrons in industry, education and government, staying closely in tune with their interests. For example, I would work towards easier access and lower cost dissemination of technical information, and easier ways for members to determine what is important. |
